Plant Summary
The Dearborn Industrial Generation (DIG) is a combined natural gas and blast furnace gas fueled power plant located in Dearborn, Michigan adjacent to the Ford Rouge industrial complex. The facility is capable of generating up to 800 MW of electricity and 1.2 million pounds per hour of steam. The plant is comprised of one simple cycle gas turbine, two high-efficiency natural gas combined cycle units with heat recovery steam generators, three blast furnace gas/natural gas boilers and one steam turbine. DIG provides AK Steel, Inc. and Ford Motor Company with steam to serve their heating and processing needs. DIG sells its capacity and energy into the MISO market.
CMS Generation Michigan Power (CMSMP) is comprised of two simple cycle facilities, the Kalamazoo River Generating Station and the Livingston Generating Station. Both plants are natural gas fired, Kalamazoo is comprised of one General Electric Frame 7E machine generating approx. 75 MW while Livingston is a four-unit facility utilizing Pratt & Whitney aero derivative jet engines producing a combined total of approx. 132 MW.Both facilities sell their capacity and energy into the MISO market.
This position reports to the General Manager at the Dearborn Power Station located in Dearborn, Michigan.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Environmental, Safety & Compliance Coordinator's primary focus is to:
•Maintain plant compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
•Direct the Operations and Maintenance personnel in the environmental and safety impacts of their duties.
•Maintain and support the NERC/FERC Compliance requirements.

Requirements/Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree preferred with 7 years of applicable experience including 3+ years' experience in Environmental Safety and 2+ years' experience in Power Industry and/or related industry experience.
•Excellent Computer Skills.
•Must be able and willing to direct the activities of employees towards meeting operating objectives in a safe, fair and consistent manner.
•Have or be able to obtain a Neutralization B-1b, A-1h Non-Contact Cooling Water, A-1i Wastewater Operator certification.
•Have or be able to obtain Industrial Storm Water Operator's certification.
•Be familiar with ISO 14001 Environmental standards.
•Must be willing and able to communicate in writing and verbally to peers and superiors.
•Must have a working knowledge of safety and environmental/regulatory requirements.
•Interface with regulatory officials.
•Administer Pre-Job Brief and Job Hazard Analysis program.
•Administer plant Lock Out/Tag Out program
•Administer and maintain the plants NERC/FERC Compliance program
•Coordinate contract work.
•Must be willing and able to work overtime and any schedule.
•Must wear all required personal protective equipment.
•Train personnel in accordance with Company policies and government regulations.
•Prepare and submit appropriate reports, recommendations and maintain documentation as required.
The following skills may set you apart from others:
•Associates or Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Safety Management (related area or equivalent experience).
•5+ years' experience in Environmental or Safety Management within the Power Industry.
•2+ years' supervisory experience in Power Industry, in Biomass.
•Directs the activities of the operations and maintenance personnel towards safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant while meeting the appropriate legal and regulatory requirements affecting the plant.
•Conducts required safety and environmental training.
•Ensures timely state, federal, and local environmental reporting requirements are met.
•Performs internal plant safety/environmental audits.
•Prepares reports and projects as required by plant management.
•Maintains occupational illness/injury logs.
•Directs the site safety committee.
•Maintains compliance with state and federal air use regulations.
•Maintains compliance with state and federal water use regulations.
•Maintains compliance with state and federal waste disposal regulations.
•Maintains compliance with state and federal spill regulations.
•Directs the immediate response to situations such as fires, injuries, chemical spills, etc.
•Performs accident/incident investigations.
•Interacts with state department personnel in maintaining compliance with regulations.
•Maintains all applicable site safety and environmental plans and programs.
•Experience with and/or working knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and Predictable Emissions Monitoring Systems (PEMS) equipment.
•Interacts with Corporate Environmental and Safety Directors on regulatory issues.
