What You Will Be Doing: The NC Automation Analyst plays a key role in the Parametrics program at Steelcase. They build or create complex computer aided automated design models while working with engineers, designers, manufacturing, suppliers and marketing to understand design intent and overall concept of products and the limitations of manufacturing. Maintains technical and aesthetic integrity of the product through sound application of design principles, fabrication principles and verification activities. Provides technical feedback on manufacturing capabilities and part logic development and design rules. Leads and consults on the overall automated model design effort as applicable. Collaborates to achieve balance between product design, manufacturing and CNC programming through sound automated design principals. Ensure that goals and objectives are met through effective involvement, contribution and coordination. Assumes technical leadership role in developing / utilizing new design techniques/tools and serves as a key liaison with key technical consultants. Serves as point of contact for questions, issues and problem solving related to NC automation. Who You Are: * Ability to apply design principles, properties, material science, manufacturing processes/procedures and tooling considerations as they relate to product design. * Understanding of aesthetic design intent in product solutions, handling, packaging, distribution and environmental strategies as they relate to design/material usage decisions. * Ability to understand/interpret prototyping, piece part, process and tooling cost data as they relate to product design. * Ability to apply and improve appropriate standards and protocol that govern the Steelcase design process. * Thorough knowledge of the Steelcase organization, processes, products, standards and information systems as well as knowledge of competitive product designs and innovations. * Ability to use a variety of methods and techniques in solving technical issues and in leading groups to a technical solution. * Ability to work with peers and management in a multi-disciplined team environment coupled with the ability to influence individuals and groups. Define and implement professional development plan with management. * Ability to work on multiple assignments with effective time management and prioritizing skills. * Excellent written and verbal communications for interaction within all levels internally and externally. Qualifications: Associates Degree or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor s Degree in related field preferred Experience working with ProE (Creo) / ProProgram required. Pro Manufacturing preferred. Your Future Team: The NC Automation team is primary focused on supporting the Grand Rapids Wood plant, but occasionally is asked to help with other Steelcase plants as well.
