Local Fabrication/Machine Shop looking for Machinist with Manual and/or CNC knowledge. Ideal candidate with be familiar with bar, manual lathe, CNC machining centers and lathes (Hurco & Mazak).
Employee has knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques to fabricate parts; studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece; selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Employee calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut; starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Employee reports defective materials or questionable conditions to shop coordinator; verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks; may confer with other employees to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Employee maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
