SUMMARY:
The Business Solutions Architect role is responsible for the direction and fulfilment of AF Group strategic / transformational business solutions. The Business Solutions Architect will assess, design, estimate, and develop solutions in partnership with key enterprise departments -- solutions that will ultimately be transitioned to Information Technology for ongoing operational support and continuous improvement. The Business Solutions Architect will also monitor industry trends, participate in the development of the strategic technology roadmap, manage vendors, develop standards, and lead/advise technical development teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
* Actively support and consult on strategic and transformational initiatives within each business domain.
* Translate transformational business strategies into Architecture requirements.
* Update enterprise business architecture capability models.
* Complete Project Portfolio Prioritization responsibilities.
* Advocate Enterprise Architecture to programs and projects.
* Identify opportunities to systematically improve business processes associated with strategic / transformational business solutions.
* Responsible for the design of business solutions, this includes a lead role in project discovery and definition workshops, creating scope and development estimates, and documenting requirements and designs
* Evaluates, defines, and when necessary prototypes alternatives to determine the most appropriate approach for each solution
* Determines how to sa tisfy requirements using defined architecture standards for the solution platform, and where appropriate, creates and recommends new standards
* Prepares functional specifications that can be understood by owners / stakeholders and development teams
* Works with the development teams to estimate the work for a given project
* Provides direction and guidance, development oversight, and support to successfully deliver projects on time with quality
* Drives technical execution of business solutions from inception to release
* Plans, coordinates and transitions finished projects to production support and operations teams
* Coaches and mentors partners, owners / stakeholders and developers during the implementation process
* Provides technical problem resolution to complex issues

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.
EXPERIENCE:
Ten years' experience in a similar role designing and implementing complex solution architectures for enterprise applications - including Software as a Service, integration, security, performance, and scalability
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:
* Experience creating business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documentation, and writing use and test cases for insurance claim processing systems
* Experience writing SQL queries to perform data analysis
* Experience creating research notes, user guides and training materials for internal and external stakeholders for health insurance claims processing systems
* Experience with direct customer facing interactions/communications in a Consulting or Professional Services organization
* Experience leading and working with geographically dispersed development teams
