POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage and direct the deposit operations activities of the Bank. Ensure efficient delivery of back-office support services for deposit products and services, including new and existing deposit account and related services (i.e. debit card and overdrafts) set-up and maintenance, regulatory transaction monitoring, and item processing and related exception item resolution. Provide oversight of Deposit Operations personnel to ensure processes are completed timely and in accordance with department guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist with major Bank projects that affect the deposit operations support staff and provide input to operational controls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage and direct operational process for deposit activities. Maintain a working knowledge of current rules/regulations and related changes as they relate to banking and deposit products and operations. Major activities include:
• Account services, including new account verification, account file maintenance, related account exception monitoring and monitoring compliance with account requirements for specialized accounts (i.e. IRA/HSA).
• Transaction services, including non-posts, suspense and adjustments, exception items (i.e. non-sufficient funds and charge-backs), currency transaction reporting (CTRs), subpoenas/garnishments/levies, item processing, and suspicious activity reporting.
• Administration of back-office support of Bank’s overdraft program.
Recommend and obtain agreement of process improvement and automated process workflows for deposit operations.
• Work with appropriate management, including Central Operations, Retail, and Treasury Management departments.
• Actively implement process changes to ensure that products/services are being delivered to meet the needs of our customers.
• Coordinate with vendors as necessary.
Provide on-going supervision, coaching, and career development for Deposit Operations personnel, including the following:
• Promote a positive team environment and one focused on superior and professional customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Lead staff meetings, including discussion of ongoing and upcoming projects, staff concerns, announcements, department training, etc.
• Manage staffing schedules and monitor work volumes and staff capacity.
• Establish and monitor staff development activities, including career development, training, and required regulatory training (i.e. deposit products, account and transaction monitoring).
• Handle escalated customer issues.
• Prioritize staff projects and track and report appropriate activity-based for management.
Serve as liaison with internal audit and compliance groups in the coordination of periodic audits and implementation of new compliance rules.
Risk Management
- Responsible for all Risk Management of Deposit Services activities including Vendor Management.
- Serve as liaison with internal audit and compliance groups in the coordination of periodic audits and implementation of new compliance rules.
- Maintain expert knowledge on department-related responsibilities, including compliance and regulations, communicating effectively with staff and third parties as needed.
Represent the department in various capacities, including but not limited to regulatory and compliance issues, audits, and management meetings.
