JOB DUTIES:
- Ensuring all patients enjoy a positive experience, are treated with the care and compassion expected and attend to patients needs before, during and after dental treatment.
- Take and process x-rays and assist the dentist chair-side by organizing and preparing instruments for the dentist's use and assisting as needed during the procedures.
- Follow through with post-op visit duties.
- Ensuring all patient services and billing information is collected and submitted timely and accurately.
- Ensuring all task are provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures.
- Develop proactive relationships with all patients, advise the patients about oral hygiene and dental care and instruct and their family members on general oral health care and/or information post-treatment care as appropriate.
- Collect and record patient histories (dental and medical) and record information for dentist's reference prior to examination.
- Establish working relationship with all staff members associated with clinic operations, including patient registration clerk, dental hygienist, dentist and related staff.
- Represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times and adhere to corporate and departmental policies, practices and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Provide backup for the patient registration clerk, provide relief support to PRC functions and perform office duties as requested.
- Interact positively with a diverse and demanding patient population and provide service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age; demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of dental procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray set-up and materials.
- Experienced taking dental impressions, preparing models for laboratory procedures and formulation of temporary crowns.
- Support a healthy and safe work environment for all employees and maintain facilities and equipment cleanliness and safety and report and /or correct hazard when necessary in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including OSHA. Ensure compliance with policies and protocols of the organization as well as State, Federal and other regulatory.
- Participate in Performance Management process.
- Provide and practice Customer Service Excellence Standards, Service Steps, and Principles are practiced daily with internal and external customers to the organization.
- Provide and support an environment that fosters diversity and recognizes the contribution.
- Ensures that TWPMC is in compliance with privacy and security regulatory requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Ensure compliance with TWPMC's Affirmative Action Program.
- Perform other duties as needed/or as assigned.
MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a dental assistant licensing or registration program as required by the state. Two (2) years experience as a dental assistant. Two (2) years customer service or patient relations experience. Current CPR Certificate
Computer Skills: Computers skills including ability to use computer for scheduling, dental records, and digital x-rays (Word, Outlook, EMR and web navigation skills).
DESIRABLE: Experience with laboratory procedures and experience working in an FQHC.
