DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tenneco's Corporate Division is looking for a Sales & Use Tax Manager that will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and filing of US sales and Use tax returns along with all other ongoing compliance matters, audits and projects. This person will become a valued member of our Finance Department, where we strive to promote from within wherever possible; therefore, opportunities for advancement are strong.
An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who possesses a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Taxation or Finance degree and at least 7 years of working experience. Strong attention to detail, significant capability, drive, and initiative to create and manage own work agenda are all necessary qualifications for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Sales/use tax subject matter expert
•Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual state and local sales and use tax returns for the US and Canada including gathering and organizing information
•Analyze data to determine accuracy of accruals
•Prepare journal entries to adjust liability accounts
•Prepare and file state and local gross receipts returns
•Prepare business license returns
•Manage the sales tax exemption certificate process
•Respond to and manage notices from taxing jurisdictions
•Ensure compliance and manage the tax compliance calendar
•Manage sales and use tax audits
•Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
•Work closely with plants and finance teams for compliance with sales and use tax requirements
•Assist with ensuring exemption certificates are up to date and maintained
•Update and implement sales and use tax compliance software as necessary
•Nexus Studies
•Overpayment reviews
•Monthly account reconciliations
•Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's in Business, Accounting, Taxation, or Finance
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
•7+ years of Sales & Use Tax compliance, and working knowledge of sales & use tax laws
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
•Experience with SAP and Vertex preferred
•Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to create and maintain productive work relationships
•Similar industry/corporate background is a plus
•Strong leadership, self-management, presentation, and interpersonal skills
•The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Strong analytical and research skills
•Excellent organizational skills
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
