Job Description SummaryThe job scope is to ensure an effective working team, a safe working environment, quality product, and maintain continuous operation in accordance with customer orders in an efficient manner. This description provides a general outline of job responsibilities but is not limited to only the functions as detailed herein. In addition to the press operation, the General Production classification includes the following jobs within the Troy facility: coating line, annealing-furnace, wheelabrate, saw/header, and lathe.

Job Duties:
Find below a listing of essential functions related to the title of press operator.
•Use of operational sheets
•SPC charting/checks
•Use of micrometers and calipers
•Use of depth micrometers, bore micrometers, inspection gages, and additional gages as needed.
•Material handling understanding (tags and heats)
•Responsive to safety concerns
•Using deviations as directed by supervision or quality technician
•Hi-lo/ crane licensure & operations
•Machine uptime skills
•Use of 5S and general area clean-up
•Operating knowledge of Plexus
•Completion of daily preventative maintenance sheets (DPM)
•Maintain established run rates
•Maintain all quality systems as established
•Ability to run all pieces of equipment in the press room
•Dumpers are to ensure they do not overload the hopper in the back yard (clean up any chips seen on the ground)
Required Skills and Education
Specific Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Press operators will have an understanding of the manufacturing process, daily operation, material handling, quality criteria, safety issues, trouble shooting ability.
Qualification Requirements:
Preferable for press operators to have a minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive and forging industry.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of press operation, safety, quality, production requirements
Education:
High school diploma/ GED is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for 8-12 hours.
Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 5-35 lbs.
Safety:
Must adhere to all safety requirements.
Behavior:
Attention to detail, maintain a productive attitude, and willingness to take the extra steps needed to ensure the job is done right.
