LAB SUPERVISOR – CYTOLOGY for Royal Oak Hospital
GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Supervisor must know how to monitor and implement the quality assurance program, perform interim supervisory responsibilities, administer the continuing education program, utilize and address issues with computer software applications, and prepare and microscopically evaluate all types of cytology specimens. A Supervisor is authorized to perform responsibilities as specified by the Laboratory Director and Manager. All specimen processing, test performance and result reporting are globally supervised by the technical supervisor (i.e. Laboratory Director or his/her designee.) This position reports to the Lab Manager, Cytology.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

•Education / Training: BA or BS degree to be ASCP registered. Three years of college and one year of cytotechnology training at an ASCP approved school of cytotechnology.
•Certification, Licensure, Registration: ASCP Registry required by law. Annual CLIA mandated GYN proficiency testing score of at least 90%
•Other Qualifications: Ability to perform all laboratory procedures, knowledge of examining and diagnosing all types of cytologic specimens. Advanced computer knowledge. Must be able to evaluate statistically the performance of the individual diagnosticians and the overall laboratory. Must interact in a respectful manner, considerate of age and physical abilities with all employees, patients and the patient's families or visitors. Provide assistance to individuals in a manner that takes into account their special needs. Practice Beaumont standards.
