Job Description
Job Corps' mission is to assist eligible youth to connect to the labor force by providing comprehensive and integrated academic, career technical, workforce preparation and independent living skills and support services leading to: Successful careers in in-demand industry sectors or occupations or the Armed Services that will result in economic self-sufficiency and opportunities for advancement; Enrollment in postsecondary education, including an apprenticeship program leading to long-term attachment to the labor force; and Responsible citizenship.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
•Oversees and manages all aspects of the Wellness department and staff.
•Ensures each student receives cursory and complete medical examinations including all PRH requirements. When indicated, provides for optometrist/ophthalmologist evaluation and glasses that meet ANSI standards.
•Ensures there is a documented immunization program that meets CDC and Job Corps guidelines.
•Ensures daily walk-in services for routine care is available to students, and an appointment system for follow-up is in place.
•Ensures students have access to emergency care including first aid and CPR, and coordinates emergency services on and off center. Ensures 24-hour emergency care with written arrangements for local facilities to provide medical, dental, mental health and inpatient care.
•Provides for an off-Center specialist referral system. Ensures students being sent off center for medical appointments have passes in the CIS system.
•Oversees Job Corps subcontractors to ensure students receive dental services to include cursory examination, mandatory oral examination with X-rays, restorative and prophylactic treatment; and mental health services to include emphasis on prevention, early detection, identification of mental health problems, short term counseling and crisis intervention.
•Ensures a student access to TEAP substance abuse program including of assessment, intervention, counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education exercises. Ensures Tobacco Use Prevention Program (TUPP) meets compliance standards.
•Performs file reviews for all prospective students. Makes recommendations to Outreach & Admissions based on medical information included in the files.
•Implements medication management procedures including ordering, storage administration, and record keeping for immunizations, prescription, stock prescription, and controlled substances.
•Implements, directs and monitors infection control measures in the Wellness department, and assists with monitoring Center-wide infection control. Complies with OSHA requirements.
•Serves as the leader of the Health Eating and Lifestyle (HEALS) Committee. Participates on the Safety Committee, and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
•Ensures medical records are maintained and in compliance with PRH requirements and the Nurse Practice Act
•Ensure staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities. Cross-trains department employees. Ensures that departmental staff completes all DOL, Corporate and Center training as required.
•Develops Others: delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing others' abilities, reassures and encourages performance improvement, provides timely coaching.
•Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Academic department.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provides for patient assessment, triage and treatment.
•Reviews all student disability accommodation plans.
•Utilizes community resources for staff and student training on various Wellness issues, self-care and treatment
•Schedules staff meetings at regular intervals, ensures meeting minutes are accurate.
•Participates in CMT, ensures that all staff participate in CMT.
•Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
•Ensures equipment assigned to the department is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition. Notifies the Center Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures.
•Monitors budget for the Academic department and maintains spending limits as applicable. Tracks spending of staff each month.
•Periodically audits staff time sheets to ensure compliance with corporate time keeping policy.
•Ensures accuracy and timely submission of all employee timesheets so as to remain in compliance with company policy.
•All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Required Education and Experience:
•Active unrestricted Registered Nursing License to practice in the state where the center is located.
•Ability to navigate multiple administrative structures.
•Experience in developing and implementing programs
•Sound communication skills; to include verbal, non-verbal and written.
•Ability to make sound decisions and utilize good judgment at all times.
•High degree of flexibility.
•Demonstrate ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong working knowledge of Google Docs/Forms, Microsoft Office Suite, and Apps
Preferred Education and Experience
•Bachelor's degree in a nursing.
•Four years of relevant experience in an administrative or management role.
