GENERAL SUMMARY
The Trainer is responsible for teaching and training new school bus drivers. The instruction provided by the Trainer must be consistent and complete for each trainee. Professionalism is essential in training new school bus drivers and must be displayed by the Trainer at all times. The Trainer will work with the METS Human Resource Staff and local Transportation Department to work in accordance with company and client district expectations. A Trainer may also maintain a regular school bus driving route assignment, but must be willing and available to conduct consistently scheduled training around their additional assignment. It is imperative that the Trainer is qualified to execute the essential job functions as detailed below. Training will be provided to the hired Trainer potentially including but not limited to scheduling of “Train the Trainer” class attendance as well as travel to a METS facility or client district for orientation and instruction from an existing METS Trainer to be familiarized with a designated training curriculum.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Effectively and efficiently, train new hires on the rules, regulations, required skills, and district specific policies and procedures to become an effective school bus driver or bus aide assigned to the district.
• Ensure complete and detailed documentation supporting all training conducted.
• Monitor Trainee hours, ensuring complete and qualified training is conducted within a targeted timeframe.
• Facilitate new employee orientation, allowing for all trainees within a defined period to receive effective training on forms, processes, policies in a classroom environment.
• Work in conjunction with Human Resources to ensure Trainees have all certifications and licenses prior to starting the training process or releasing Trainee as a driver or bus aide.
• Monitor, document, and notify METS upon Trainee meeting qualifications to be released as a driver or bus aide.
• Provide schedule flexibility required to accommodate varying training and instruction periods as needed.
• Re-train drivers and/or aides following accidents or incidents utilizing an authorized reinstatement plan.
• Perform additional duties as requested or needed (support interviewing/recruiting efforts, route reviews, etc.)
