The Gasoline On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing test plans, establishing goals / timelines, and communicating status of a project to completion. The Calibration Engineer will plan and coordinate day-to-day activities including interaction with technicians and support engineers. He/she will utilize structured problem solving methods to make data based hardware and calibration decisions.
Additional job requirements include but not limited to:
•Evaluate new engine hardware and technology for compliance with diagnostic strategies
•Analyze, plan, and solve complex system problems as they relate to diagnostic development
•Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of data
•Actively participate in the development of diagnostic algorithms to address new requirements
•Actively participate in the development of calibration processes and procedures
•Participate in meetings with management, product design, and systems teams
•Present summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections
This position combines multiple engineering disciplines to develop gas engine hardware and calibrate the engine management system of engines produced by the company. The candidate should expect to travel 2-4 weeks throughout the year for system validation/verification.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
•Minimum one year of experience with development and calibration of engines, emissions controls, driveability or on-board diagnostics
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
•Valid US driver’s license with an excellent driving record
•Experience with ETAS INCA, MATLAB / SIMULINK or equivalent advanced data acquisition systems
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
•Experience with gasoline engine OBD calibration and/or gasoline engine emissions
•Database management of production calibrations
•Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions regulations, engine technologies and competitive products
•Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
•Hardware-in-the-loop development /verification
