I.F. Metalworks is a custom manufacturer specializing in high quality fabricated metal products for markets such as architectural/structural to military/aerospace. This is a first shift, full-time position. We are seeking highly motivated, and experienced people who adapt well to change, take pride in quality workmanship, and seek the daily challenge of working on custom projects for customers who expect the best.
We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated, detail oriented field installer for architectural and light structural metalwork consisting mostly of stairs, railings, and awning. Experience installing high end finishes preferred.
Work consists of field work when installations are underway and shop work when not installing. The ideal candidate would be an experienced shop fabricator who also has construction site experience. This position is intended to transition into a crew leader as the crew continues to grow.
OSHA 10 is required, but training can be provided to individuals without certification. Field work is local in Metro Detroit, without overnight travel.
Responsibilities for the Steel Installer include, but are not limited to:
- Layout, fabricating, hoisting and erecting structural steel to form skeletal structure(columns, beams, joist, and girders)
- Installation of steel stairs and railings, ornamental steel structures, fences, gates, awnings, and canopies
- Welding, torch cutting, grinding, and fabrication
- Read drawings or blueprints to determine work requirements.
- using angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers as needed
- Use plumbing bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment
- Maintain truck inventory and upkeep
- other duties as assigned
Qualifications we seek include, but are not limited to:
- Steel welding, fabricating, and erection experience(2 years)
- Active driver's license; must have (and maintain) a good driving record
- Authorized to work in the United States
- High school diploma (or equivalent), or higher education
- Advanced knowledge of tool and equipment safety
- AWS qualifications preferred, but not required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred, but not required.
- Aerial Lift Certification Scaffold Certification preferred, but not required
