Position Summary/ Primary Purpose
The Sales Application Engineer serves an inter-disciplinary role, bridging gaps between the various teams of different expertise, most notably engineering-oriented teams and commercially-oriented teams. This role is a “business-to-business” sales and engineering professional that prospects new business and cultivates an existing territory of business in the airport baggage handling industry. The successful incumbent will conceptually design and sell Baggage Handling solutions to all levels of any organizations’ corporate real estate, maintenance, or facility and operational departments. This position reports to the Director as part of a sales team and contributes to the success of the team, department and Company.
Responsibilities
Major Areas of Responsibility
•Create and maintain sales contacts, research customer needs and develop application of products and services to ensure sales opportunities for products and services. Develop and deliver sales presentations and in a professional and effective manner.
•Participate in sales forecasting and planning to ensure effective market planning and continued revenue stream. Participate in development of new products, modification of existing products, & termination of ineffective products to ensure customer satisfaction.
•Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers as defined in the company policy to ensure a positive corporate image, teamwork, and attainment of goals.
•Interface with Business Development Managers and Customers during the RFP process.
•Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, or service applications in customer environment; engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
•Evaluate current strengths and weaknesses of product base and develop the products according to market trends by leading engineering teams in innovation and design improvements.
•Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
•Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
•Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.

•Computer literate in AutoCAD and MS Windows based software. Revit experience a plus

•Ability to recognize the scope and urgency of situations involving work related issues and to formulate plans to resolve these issues.
•Willingness to accommodate in a variety of different situations.
•Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, as needed, sometimes up to 50% of the time.
•Ability to work as needed to meet goals and objectivesQualifications
Basic Education & Experience
•BS in Engineering preferred or a BS in Business with equivalent baggage handling industry experience.
•1-2 years of experience in industrial applications of material handling solutions, preferably integrated baggage handling systems.
•Sales experience in baggage handling systems, automotive, distribution or construction.(preferred)
•Proven record of successfully interfacing with customers in an engineering or sales environment.
•Understanding of upper level control systems.
Demonstrated Physical Abilities as Follows:
Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence. Visits to customer locations may include negotiating through an industrial facility, which may include but not limited to conveyor systems requiring climbing access ladders, negotiation screen guards, and catwalks.
