Customer Services Audio/Visual Specialist

General Summary:

• Under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager, supports various County IP Video Systems, supports third-party applications, and installs PC software and new systems.
• Troubleshoots customers' problems; repairs and maintains computer equipment peripheral devices.

Duties:

• Supports and serves as point of contact for IP Audio/Video applications.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems related to IP Audio/Video equipment throughout the County.
• Supports and serves as point of contact for third-party applications.
• Works with outside vendors, I/S personnel, and other County staff members to ensure system reliability.
• Installs PC software and new systems.
• Makes changes to PC configurations based on County standards.
• Installs, repairs, troubleshoots and diagnosis PCs, network attached devices, and any Information Systems supported devices.
• Responds to trouble tickets initiated through Help Desk database.
• Performs preventative maintenance and orders replacement parts.
• Makes recommendations for purchasing parts and hardware.
• Uses County Help Desk software to track call history.
• Provides guidance to new customers in use upon installation of PCs, network attached devices and any Information System supported devices.
• Maintains general cleanliness and order in work areas.
• Makes recommendations to the Customer Service Manager concerning planning, installation, and maintenance of equipment.
• Completes special projects and assignments as requested by Customer Service Manager and/or Director of Information Systems.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and full-time experience in information technology, database management, application management, or Audio/Video Systems Support; OR
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and one year of full-time experience in information technology, database management, application management, or Audio/Video Systems Support; OR
• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time experience in information technology, database management, application management, or Audio/Video Systems Support.
• Note: An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and/or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the stated requirements.

Special Requirements:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation throughout the course of employment.
• Will be required to maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Candidate may not have any felony convictions.
• A pre-employment physical, drug test and background check are required before employment.
• Strong physical dexterity, including fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, along with the ability to lift and carry over 20 pounds, and comfortably bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods, is essential to the successful completion of job duties.
• Subject to call-in during off-duty hours. Carries cell phone and responds to emergencies or service needs on a 24-hour basis. May be required to travel off-site.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Clear understanding of the use of standard office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and email programs.
• Basic knowledge of network wiring.
