Position Summary:
As a Director of Product Line Management, HARMAN X, you will guide a matrixed, cross-functional team to analyze market trends, competitive landscape, customer and business unit needs, and technology trends to determine areas of innovation that HARMAN X will pursue. You will define products, core technologies, and technology enablers that leverage new and existing platforms and technologies that drive innovation into HARMAN business units as well as expand HARMAN's intellectual property portfolio. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand what the customer and business units are trying to achieve and find solutions that drive innovation and growth.
You must be well-spoken and able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization - both within HARMAN, with key partners, and at the customer. You will collaborate with other organizations to define requirements, product positioning and value propositions, solution roadmap, project scope, and validation requirements. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for HARMAN X and work closely with the customer and other HARMAN teams to execute on programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This person will initially act as an individual contributor and therefore have no direct reports.
He/ She will, however, will lead and collaborate with colleagues from the Business Units as well as others in HARMAN X and thus must have the necessary experience to influence and drive the right outcome.
Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with HARMAN senior management and engineering, product management, analysts, customers, and suppliers to analyze, interpret, and define the systems-level requirements and roadmap for future HARMAN X innovations that expand HARMAN's product and intellectual property portfolio that position HARMAN to win future business.
Be the principal point of contact between HARMAN X, the business units, and the customer - including driving customer presentations, leading regular interactions, ensuring timely and accurate customer responses, and communicating HARMAN's vision, roadmap, and portfolio.
Along with the broader team, be responsible for market research and competitive analysis. Be an expert on the competitive landscape and relevant technologies to position HARMAN as a trusted technology partner and market leader.
Analyze and recommend potential partner relationships that enhance HARMAN's solutions. Drive the strategy and engagement with selected partners to align product roadmaps, timelines, and business models.
Basic Qualifications:
5-10 years' experience in product planning for consumer electronics or automotive products
Background in automotive, wireless communications, and Internet technologies.
Experience with market research and competitive analysis
5-10 years' experience in presenting to the customer
5+ years' experience managing dynamic teams
Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Word
Technical degree and Masters or equivalent experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong background in Product Management, Engineering, Strategy, and Business Development.
Deep understanding of embedded hardware, software, and system architectures.
Expertise in wireless and automotive technologies as well as cloud-based services.
Expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning
Big Picture Vision and ability to communicate this vision to technical and business audiences.
Capable of leverage business intelligence and analytics to drive data-driven roadmap.
Eligibility Requirements:
•Willingness to travel 30% of the time
Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test
Willingness to work in an office.
Other:
•Bachelor or equivalent in electrical or computer engineering
•Master's in engineering and MBA preferred
