Tool & Fixture Builder/Team Leader – machining/fabrication/manufacturing

Our products are found in over 20 assembly plants throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.
As a Tool & Fixture Builder, you will be designing and building weld fixtures, drilling/milling fixtures, press brake dies, and specialty tooling in preparation for product manufacturing. Products lines include fabrications, detail assemblies, sheet metal stampings, and plastic injection moldings. You can expect autonomy over Tool & Fixture design with access to CNC milling centers, CNC Lasers, 3-D printers, and CAD software to assist building projects.
Responsibilities Lead the construction of Tools and Fixtures required to effectively and efficiently produce products during manufacturing operations Assist the Process Engineer and Product Development Team plan and prepare products for manufacturing Control and maintain equipment, materials, and supplies required to build Tools and Fixtures Mentor and guide junior employees in the setup and operation of machining equipment, tools, and fixtures Required Knowledge Advanced Knowledge of Fixture and Jig design and theory Advanced Knowledge of Machine Tool theory and principles Knowledge of Press Brake Die design and theory Understanding of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System (QMS) Familiar with CNC machining, plastic injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and Flexible Job Shop fabrication/manufacturing Required Attributes Strong leadership skills Strong team member Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills Strong project management skills Highly developed technical competencies
Education/Experience Certificate or Associate’s Degree in Tool and Fixture Design or Technical Equivalent 3-5 years of experience as fixture builder, machinist, or fabricator 1-2 years of drafting experience using Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD Or 5-10 years of experience in Tool & Fixture Design/Build 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position
Wage: Hourly – commensurate with experience
