Materials Manager

Essential Responsibilities:
- Leads and sustains a dedicated, capable, and engaged team though development and strict adherence to our core values: Safety, Quality, Teamwork, Integrity and Customer Satisfaction.
- Responsible for the overall production material planning, warehousing, inventory control, and scheduling activities to maximize schedule adherence, customer service and delivery.
- Leads organization in attending key metrics including working capital, inventory turns, days on hand, on-time delivery, and schedule adherence.
- Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, material control and scheduling.
- Manage and flex material demand and flow through Pulling Systems and MRP allowing for fluctuation in forecast and managing the growth of the business while ensuring the timely availability of components.
- Responsibility for a formalized inventory cycle count control system to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity.
- Manage the shipping and receiving functions of the warehouse and the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Manages tactical supplier relationships and works with the procurement team to manage and develop supply chain and key suppliers.
- Collaborates with Continuous Improvement Team to optimize production planning, detail scheduling and material replenishment process for maximum utilization of the production cells and resources.
- Develops targets, systems and procedures for balancing optimal inventory levels with customer availability and market leading lead times.
- Drive efforts to continuously review and improve inventory accuracy and cycle counting programs.
- Ensures inbound/outbound freight activities operate efficiently and effectively.
- Champions lean activity in direct support and relationship to facility lean direction and business needs.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies with health and safety regulations.
Health, Safety & Environmental:
- Promote effective Health, Safety and Environmental programs and practices, ensuring that high standards of site safety are established and met.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to a safety and quality culture.
- Establishes clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results
- Identifies and addresses general root causes to safety and quality problems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operational Engineering, Supply Chain or Business preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of supply chain/materials/procurement management experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience required.
- Experience with management systems, performance management, financial planning and strategy, process improvement and quality systems are required.
- A thorough knowledge of product costing, budget planning and make/buy analysis.
- Must have previous experience using MRP systems, and be knowledgeable in routings and BOM applications.
- Experience with MRP systems and Syteline is a plus.
- Proficient utilization of MS office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Superior written and communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
