The Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing test plans, establishing goals / timelines, and communicating status of a project to completion. The Calibration Engineer will plan and coordinate day today activities including interaction with technicians and support engineers.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
•Utilize test techniques to make fundamentally based hardware and calibration decisions
•Evaluate new engine hardware and technology for future applications
•Analyze, plan, and solve complex system problems as they relate to calibration development
•Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of data
•Actively participate in the development of standard hardware and calibration development processes and procedures
•Participate in meetings with management, product design, and systems teams
•Present summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections
The Calibration Engineer position combines multiple engineering disciplines to develop hardware and calibrate the engine management system of engines produced by the company. The candidate should expect to travel 2 – 4 weeks throughout the year for system validation/verification. This position reports directly to supervisors and operates under the general direction of the department manager.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
•Experience with any of the following: development and calibration of direct injection spark ignition engines, powertrain systems calibration development, OBD calibration, transmission calibration, engine calibration or transmission calibration; or an advanced degree, academic research, or a previous internship/co-op in a related field
•Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data
•MATLAB / SIMULINK experience
•Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions regulations, engine technologies and competitive products
•Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
•Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Master of Science in Computer Science from an ABET accredited university
•Hardware-in-the-loop development /verification
•Database management of production calibrations
