Position Summary:
The position is a key member in NA Quality ECAFA (Electronic Component, Assembly and Failure Analysis) lab to help Harman engineering communities understand the design, material, structure, manufacture process, quality and reliability aspects of electronic components that will be used or currently used in Harman products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position is an individual contributor, he/she will report to Senior Principal Engineer in ECAFA Lab.
Job Responsibilities:
The position of Quality Engineer will provide detailed analyses and evaluations of electronic components and assemblies in the areas of design, material, structure, manufacture process, quality and reliability to help Harman make important decisions in the areas (but not limited to) of:
•Component procurements and component/supplier selections;
•Quality and Reliability assessments of components and solder joints in product design and production;
•Continued improvements and Corrective Actions in all stages of Harman product life cycle.
The components will include (but not limited to):
•Printed Circuit Board, mechanical and mechanical-electrical components;
•Passive components, e.g., resistors, capacitor, inductors, thermistor etc;
•Semiconductor devices, e.g., diodes, transistors, integrated circuits etc.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
•Detail oriented
•Knowledgeable in electronic components.
•Knowledgeable in component failure analysis tools, e.g., microscope, cross-section, X-ray, SAM, SEM/EDX etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Advanced degree in a science or engineering field
•Prior working experience in electronic components
Eligibility Requirements:
•Willingness to work in lab environment in Farmington Hills, MI
•Willingness to travel up to 10% time.
