The Gratiot Farms Wind Project
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of a wind energy power plant and direction of the operations and maintenance crew as needed. This position will manage a union workforce in the safe operation of power plant equipment and maintenance of equipment integrity; administer the switching/tagging procedure; investigate and identify equipment and system deficiencies; supervise, train, develop, appraise, and coach their employees.
The Production Supervisor's responsibilities include ensuring strict adherence to all Company policies including but not limited to: safety, working clearance, regulatory/environmental, and Code of Conduct. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work with other departments, and be able to work backshifts, weekends and holidays.
Until the Gratiot Farms Wind Project headquarters building is constructed, this job will be located at the Cross Winds Energy Park in Unionville, MI. The to be constructed permanent headquarters is expected to be located in Gratiot County.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for:
•Direct the operation of wind power, solar and utility scale battery equipment, maintaining equipment integrity.
•Direct the activities of the Renewable Specialists to assure safe, efficient operations.
•Assure compliance with safety, environmental and special land use permit procedures and policies.
•Administer switching and tagging procedure.
•Investigate and identify equipment/system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
•Manage staff schedules.
•Perform on-call duties.
•Work with union leadership on matters involving the Working Agreement.
•Lead employees and provide feedback and coaching in their training.
•Maintain conformance to Company policies and standards.
•Compliance with operating procedures and documentation.
•Provide technical oversight of maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, service, and testing of the plant equipment.
•Sit on the Renewable Specialist Apprenticeship Committee as a voting member.
Requirements/Qualifications
•High School Diploma or equivalent.
•Technical knowledge in wind and utility scale solar plant operation gained either through a technical field of study and/or through related work experience.
•Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and procedures; the aptitude to learn plant operations; demonstrated leadership capabilities including the capacity to lead change efforts in a competitive business environment.
The following experience and skills will set you apart from others:
•5 or more years of experience in a wind or solar power plant.
•Command and control skills.
•Supervisory experience with power plant operations.
•An understanding of the working agreement, conflict resolution and safety and health regulations.
•SAP experience.
•Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which may occasionally require nights/weekends.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, evaluation and supervision of the operation of the Gratiot Farms Wind Project site. Recommends proposed changes and enhancements to systems and facilities operation; responds to complaints and requests for information; prepares and maintains reports of completed work orders and the status of jobs in progress. Inspects job sites to check on work progress, assure satisfactory completion and plans new assignments; prepares requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment and materials and supervises special projects as required. Conducts regular safety meetings; investigates and completes necessary incident reports and accident reports; maintains records and prepares and submits required reports for appropriate agencies. Implement preventative maintenance programs. Participates in the day-to-day activities of the plant.
