DCS (Distributed Control Systems) Field Service Engineer
ABB is seeking a DCS Field Service Engineer, will be required to work independently with assistance from technical support resources provided as-needed to deliver service on a variety of ABB DCS products. A Demand Service Engineer will typically service a specific geographical region, travelling where required to work on ABB equipment at a variety of customer sites. The frequency of travel varies depending on the region of service. The position is in ABB's Industrial Automation division which typically includes but is not limited to, service work on the DCS for customers in Power Generation Plants, Pulp and Paper Mills, Oil & Gas Operations, and Petrochemical plants.

Professionals ( > 2 years of work experience)Tasks:
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* A good understanding of the technical aspects of Process Control Systems is a must.
* The knowledge received can range initially from basic maintenance to application services to allow the candidate to address a wide range of system/control issues.
* Strong Electrical and Electronics skills will also be considered one of the foundations of this position to deliver contract services, on demand services, system installation and upgrade support, and sales support.
* Expertise in Microsoft systems including Windows Server ® and Windows ® Client type operating systems is a must-have skill.
* Computer networking and information systems administration as well as experience with process control are a plus. Field Service Engineers perform a wide variety of work that ranges from preventive and corrective maintenance to optimization and other advanced services such as control system health.
* Field Service Engineers provide on call emergency support when customers need help. The specific on-call requirements may vary depending on the customer contract requirements and extent of the ABB service team in the region supported. The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated and self-directed to accommodate the numerous customer responsibilities and demands of service scheduling.
* Training on ABB specific hardware, software, and services will be provided as needed. On call for 24 hour emergency support service requests. Team rotation in most areas.
Requirements:
Basic qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience; OR
* Associates Degree and a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience; OR
* Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 1 year of professional work experience
Preferred qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree Desired, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, Chemical focus are preferred.
* Strong written and oral communications skills are a must.
* Commitment to customer service excellence. Strong problem-solving capabilities.
* Ability to work independently, as well as embedded in a team environment with other ABB employees and or customers. Technically oriented, analytical and professional attitude.
* Electrical and electronics systems maintenance.
* Expertise of Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows Server ® and Windows ® Client is required.
* Computer networking and information systems administration as well as experience with process control are a plus, Excellent troubleshooting skills, Application Engineering, PLC experience, IO (Input/Output) testing and troubleshooting, Electronics, Instrumentation, Service and Maintenance, Installation and Commissioning.
