General Summary
Responsible for administering Oracle and MS-SQL Server databases. Also responsible for systems management which includes system configuration, troubleshooting, security, resource monitoring, database management, and development of specialized programs and procedures. Also required to provide technical support for operations and programming as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in MIS or related area, or equivalent work experience in a client server environment
Two years database administration experience in one or more of the following: Oracle, MS-SQL
Demonstrated understanding of server operating systems, backup and recovery systems, Storage Area Networks, and virtualization technologies (VMWare)
Must be able to effectively work with people in and/or out of the company
Consistent positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and professional attitude
Ability to verbally communicate appropriately with others and appropriately respond to criticism from a supervisor
Demonstrated interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communications
Primary Job Duties
Install, upgrade and administer Oracle, and MS-SQL Server database and backup/recovery strategies
Administer database servers, in areas of responsibility, for system performance and proactive resolutions
Resolve/report problems with client server applications supporting various business tasks
Assist programming and operations staff in identification and resolution of application program problems
Assist with disaster recovery planning, configuration, and testing for servers and various databases
Assist with the administration of the data warehouse system. A continuous evaluation and enhancement of data structures and procedures is required.
Support various application developments for design and implementation
Assist in the evaluation of hardware and software products
Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion
Perform complex routine duties independently
Provide training on related equipment and software, as needed

Occasional travel for training, conferences, and disaster recovery or offsite equipment
On call support 7x24 30 minute response, as needed
Extended hours and/or alternate schedules, as needed
Extended duration of computer terminal usage
