Department Summary
The James H Campbell Generating Complex is located in West Olive, Michigan located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan between the cities of Holland and Grand Haven. The Campbell complex helps Consumers Energy meet the energy needs of its more than 1.8 million electric customers. The Chemistry, Environmental, and Results Department is responsible for providing chemistry and technical expertise to support the operation of three large electric generating units that operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing an important commodity/service. The department also supports environmental and regulatory compliance with an emphasis in water quality.
Job Description/Responsibilities

•Job activities will involve working with individuals from plant operations, maintenance and planning, engineering, environmental, analytical laboratory, and outside vendors.
•Job Duties Include:
•Collect, calculate, and review data to prepare various reports (both internal and external).
•Calibrate field and laboratory instrumentation.
•Maintain and repair lab instrumentation, inline instrumentation, and equipment.
•Monitor processes and system status and take action to address issues.
•Submit electronic work requests (notifications) for identified deficiencies on plant equipment.
Requirements/Qualifications
Associate degree in a scientific or technical field, or 48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis.
The following skills may set you apart from others:
•Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Environmental Science, and other fields of Science or Mathematics.
•1+ year of experience performing maintenance, technical, and/or operational activities at a power plant or chemical processing plant.
•1+ year of experience as a Power Plant Operator or with a Turbine Room/Steam Room/Boiler.
•Familiarity with the thermodynamic steam cycle, power plant system components as well as environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance.
•Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment and instrumentation, mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, etc.), and high quality water production (RO, ion exchange, filtration).
•Familiarity with NPDES, Storm Water, RCRA waste management, and Waste Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
Essential Functions
Maintains and troubleshoots electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment for plant, electric and gas distribution and transmission systems. Consults with supervisors, operators, and engineers to review assigned area needs, discuss problems, prioritize work, and provide technical expertise. Repairs, calibrates and/or programs electronic components. Repairs and/or replaces transfer switchgear for generators, motor control panels, pump controls, valves, cables, and adjustable frequency drives. Resolves computer problems with process control software. Operates and maintains electronic equipment, diagnostic instruments, and software in performance of assigned duties, specifically: computers, volt meters, amp meters, electrical tools, electronic tools, and telemetering, and process control software. Receives reports, electrical diagrams, and correspondence; reviews, processes or; maintains documentation for reference. Consults with manufacturers' service technicians, contractors, and vendor representatives to discuss problems, schedule installs, and evaluate costs for necessary parts, supplies, or repairs.
