Department Summary and Overview:
BP&A provides accounting and financial services support for the company's electric generation (coal, hydro, wind, solar) and gas compression sites located throughout the state. Primary responsibilities for this position would be to support management at the sites in planning, budgeting, analyzing and forecasting operation and maintenance costs. Provide actual cost summary reports and detail. Assure compliance to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), utility accounting and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
•Monitor financial activities for assigned areas within Generation and Gas Compression Operations to ensure accurate financial distribution according to general and FERC accounting principles
•Budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring actuals for assigned financial activities for O&M according to policies and procedures issued by various regulatory bodies
•Interface and partner with Departments Managers & Leads to determine and review budget, forecasts, cash flow projections, variances, identify budget risks and gap analysis. Work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality "Internal Customer Service".
•Interface with Planning & Scheduling to determine and align on linking budget, forecast and cash flow to work plans
•Analyze, interpret and verify financial documents and reports; make corrections and update as necessary
•Month-end close process including accruals, journal entries and variance explanations
•Support Generation and Gas Compression Operations financial reporting, consolidated financial reporting and audit responses
•Assist with rate case and discovery responses
•Service Entry Sheet approvals for Operations & Maintenance
•Functional Location (FERC Settlements) verifications
•Joint Owner accounting
•Interact with internal and external clients to identify, research and analyze situations. Identify and communicate financial issues and variances from current plan recommending alternatives/options.
•Strategic Financial Alignment
•Support the current year funding change (Changelog) process and activities
•Support Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) and Flex Plan processes and activities
•Support Annual Budget Process
•Support the development and implementation of standardization of financial work processes, continuous improvement by automating and leveraging technology, implement inventory optimization strategy and process protocol across Generation and Gas Compression Operations to support the Company's strategic goals.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area.
•2+ years of experience

Performing all of the accounting functions for the Company including but not limited to: Financial Accounting - Month, Quarter, Year-end journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation and analysis; Management Accounting - budgeting, forecasting, financial statement preparation and analysis; Compliance - internal controls, SOX, and other compliance roles; Management Accounting - support business decision making with budgets, forecasts, cost analysis, performance reporting such as KPIs and Dashboards, project analysis, ROI, NPV, and IRR.
