Position Description:
The advanced technology engineer is responsible for developing and executing new technology strategies along with building relationships within the advanced technical community. Successful applicants will be familiar with the various global defense Science and Technology (S&T) organizations and will have a general awareness of advanced technologies within industry that are being pursued by these organizations. As a key member of a small, high performance team, the engineering specialist will:
- Research industry trends, gaps, needs and develop strategies and plans for providing corresponding solutions. Research will include but is not limited to engagement with academia, war-gamming organizations, Government S&T publications, budgets, requirements developers, annual plans and various other sources.
- Maintain Technology Roadmaps linked with Advanced Products and Technology (APT) and Line of Business (LoB) Tracked and Wheeled Product Roadmaps.
- Perform a high level assessment of available industry expertise against identified gaps. Make recommendations to leadership for teaming/partnerships to maintain a competitive position within the marketplace.
- Develop, maintain and execute S&T Engagement Plans. These engagement plans will consist of monitoring S&T community publications, developing concepts and solutions to published needs, developing and maintaining relationships to generate new opportunities for contracted technology development programs. S&T communities will include but are not limited to DARPA, ARL, ONR, TARDEC, ARDEC, IARPA, CERDEC, SOFWERX, DIUx, etc...
- Manage and execute consortia related efforts. This will include collaborating internally with APT and LoB organizations as well as external organizations to create White Papers, Proposals and Annual Plans in response to requests for project proposals.
- Maintain subject matter expertise for advanced programs and technologies. Provide best practices, quick reference guides and trade study documentation that can be used to rapidly assess new capabilities or provide solution options to future programs.
- Support the needs of advanced programs to maintain competitive dominance within the market space. Examples of support may include finding all available solutions to an identified problem set, executing cost and weight reduction studies, initiating collaboration between industry and program offices, conducting industry days, etc...
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required with 1-3 years of post graduate experience preferred.
- Broad knowledge of advanced technologies within the defense industry and adjacent markets to include: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, RF-Convergence and Spectrum Management, Advanced Materials, Active Safety Systems, Advanced Sensors and Electro-Optics, Advanced Propulsion Systems and Architectures, High Voltage Systems, Precision Weapons Systems, Energetic Weapons Systems, Active Protection Systems, Additive Manufacturing, Counter UAS Technologies, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Ground Mobility, Survivability, Assured PNT, etc...
- Awareness and general understanding of various contracting methods (OTA, RIF, CPFF, FFP, etc...).
- Understanding of bid and proposal processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Successful applicant will have the ability to write and present white papers, proposals, technical documents, after action reviews and industry briefings as required through engagement with the internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of and ability to create and execute CRADA's.
- Exceptional personal networking and engagement skills. Personal interaction will be necessary to participate in industry days, summits, symposiums, annual meetings, etc...
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required to engage with industry and attend various government collaboration events.
