The Facilities Health & Safety Compliance Coordinator is a unique position. It combines the functions of compliance to regulations with development of policies and procedures for functions not currently addressed by agencies. Because of this, the ideal candidate would have a manufacturing background, an open mind when it comes to policy and training program development, know where to look for applicable agency guidance, and be able to communicate this to a diverse audience. Site surveys will be conducted regularly to ensure compliance. This person will be traveling to local Metro Detroit Roush buildings. This position will be located in Livonia, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Site audit of manufacturing facilities for compliance & process improvements (including annual building inspections).
- Conduct training for various sized audiences.
- Manage waste disposal, hazardous & non-hazardous waste and invoicing approvals via PeopleSoft ERP.
- Input information in facilities related databases: waste, audit/maintain all SDS, safety scorecard, etc.
- Vendor coordination at multiple sites for periodic certification and inspection services (walking + lifting up to 40 lbs.).
- Assist with the audit, directing CAD group & production/installation of evacuation maps.
- Development and revisions to corporate policies and procedures.
- Provide periodic training and required inspections.Qualifications:

- Associates of Science degree in occupational health and safety with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working directly with the field of corporate safety OR a minimum of 7 years of corporate safety job related experience.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and use discretion to redirect work load based on immediate response issues.
- Knowledge of safety data sheets and able to use the information to suggest the proper PPE and manage waste disposal.
- Able to understand OSHA/MiOSHA, DEQ, DOT, etc. regulations as they apply to Roush.
- Must be able to identify and apply appropriate regulation into required training while working with the corporate Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to develop/update policies and training program to ensure compliance.
- Must be able to enforce MiOSHA/OSHA regulations of workers and visitors within company properties/buildings/sites.
- Experience with performing and documenting job hazard analysis.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work with several levels of personnel; shop employees, management, suppliers, regulatory inspectors, and customers.
- Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Must have a clean driving and able to travel between local Metro Detroit Roush facilities.
- Must be able to regularly sit, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, be subjected to noise levels created by power tools, production machinery, heavy traffic and may be required to work near moving machinery.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
- Must be accurate and complete when rectifying any errors or discrepancies found.
