Position Summary:
The Sr. Engineer, Systems and Requirements is a key project technical focal point to product stakeholders both internal and external to Harman. This position requires a broad background in automotive infotainment and digital cockpit systems, as well as deep knowledge in one or more relevant product domains such as Connectivity, Audio, Systems Android, Navigation etc.This position leads system requirements development activity for assigned program(s)/domain(s) from a technical expertise base without having direct reports. This position requires to provide technical leadership, evaluate tradeoffs, resolve issues, and achieve technical solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively and document the resulting product requirements in required format. Serves as the technical interface for assigned program(s)/domain(s) in a matrix product development organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any direct reports. Expected to lead assigned team members through matrix organization.
Job Responsibilities:
•System Requirements technical Product Ownership for assigned program
•Develops product specifications to clearly and concisely capture what is required of the product.
•Drive and own System and Technical Requirements and traceability through design, development and test using a test-driven approach.
•Documents and maintains product requirement exceptions.
•Identifies risk level associated with new feature development based on requirements status.
•Aware of all relevant Federal Standards, industry standards and internal standards and ensures that resulting designs will satisfy these requirements.
•Drive reuse: Lead the development of reusable internal requirements, identifying synergies and opportunities for design reuse.
•Champions problem solving/lessons learned for assigned program(s)/domain(s)
•Responsible for developing and executing requirements baseline management process for project
•Accountable for Requirements metrics targets
•Stakeholder (CPM / Customer) Interfacing:
•Customer Program Management (CPM) focal point for Technical topics related to Requirements Engineering for assigned program(s)/domain(s).
•Maintains Master Document List using requirement management tools.
•Maintains organized repository of both customer and 3rd party requirements specifications
•Generate Requirements Analysis Report (RAR) to CPM for new spec package deliveries
•Supports the sales organization in the business development phase of a program as part of proposal activity, by analyzing customer RFI and RFQ specifications and developing technical impact analysis and compliance matrix.
•Change Request Requirements Management
•Assist in change control management during product development.
•Champion Change Request impact analysis and provides results to appropriate stakeholders.
•Ensures change requests are implemented in the requirements specifications such as SRS and TRS (once approved)
•Requirements Open Issues Management
•Captures issues that arise from requirements development and downstream activities such as test case development or periodic audits of requirements specifications.
•Triages issues based on severity and urgency.
•Interfaces with Functional Owners and other stakeholders to drive resolution of requirements open issues
•Process/Tools
•Ensures compliance to ASPICE level 3
•Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for improvements in tools and process
•Responsible for developing Requirements strategy for assigned program(s)/domain(s) in compliance with ASPICE
Basic Qualifications:
•BS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
•5 plus years of experience in Systems Engineering
•Able to provide detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications.
•Automotive background with working knowledge of vehicle networking protocols.
•Experience working in a Requirements Management tool, preferably DOORS and/or DNG.
•Excellent verbal communication skills
•Flawless written communication skills
•Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master's Degree in Business Administration
•MS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
