Northern Michigan University's English Language Institute (ELI) is seeking lecturers to teach ESL courses to international students. Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. Required Minimum Work Experience: Experience teaching ESL, English, Literacy, foreign language, or related field.
Knowledge/skills/abilities required: Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work well as part of a team. Strong intercultural communication skills. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Master's Degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. Two years of teaching ESL at the post-secondary level. TESOL certificate. Experience living/teaching overseas. Evidence of professional development and/or research in ESL instruction. Experience in curriculum development and accreditation.
This position will teach 2 courses in the English Language Institute, in addition to course preparation, office hours, and faculty meetings. Additional projects may be assigned. The salary is $17 per hour for approximately 10-15 hours per week.
