The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to sales teams as well as data entering, gathering, and verifying healthcare practitioner information, which includes in-depth or detailed data collection for addition to the sales database. Primary methods of researching information include phone, fax, e-mail, and letters.
- Answer, place, screen, and route telephone calls
- Correspond with hospitals, clinics, and internal departments verbally and in written communications
- Complete clinical references of providers
- Monitor completion of drug tests and background checks
- Monitor QA Evaluations
- Enter Provider Representative comments into database when applicable
- Notify Provider Representatives of positive drug results
- Enter information into credentialing database
- Monitor information for completeness and accuracy as it is being input
- Process files and sends documents to clients
- Complete special requests by client regarding references, state-wide checks, additional drug testing and/or expansion to standard background checks
- Review and organize files for accuracy and completeness in preparation for auditing
- General administrative support
- Monitor and report on the status of credentialing files at file discussion meetings
- Participate in team building functions
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Demonstrate effective phone/verbal and written communication skills
- Computer and data entry skills: includes MS Word and Excel

- High school education or equivalent work experience
- Familiarity with the medical field and/or medical terminology
- Previous customer service and/or phone experience
- Previous office and clerical experience
- Experience with databases, data entry, Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of Joint Commission certification
- Bachelor's Degree
