Job Description
Support GCO - Litigation Team by performing administrative tasks and legal assistance duties. This includes performing routine administrative tasks such as maintaining calendars/dockets, making travel arrangements, preparing expense reports and scheduling/managing meeting requests. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting trial lawyers with all aspects of the litigation process, from fact investigation through final hearing. with specific emphasis on gathering and reviewing documents for discovery.
Responsibilities
Conducting fact investigation, legal research and assist with the discovery process. Perform routine data entry, research, analysis, and review of documents as needed. Drafting and editing correspondence, pleadings, motions and filing them with the appropriate court or arbitration venue. Assist in researching rules, statutes and case law as well as public records searches as needed under the direction of trial counsel.
Coordinating projects with direction from leader, which includes gathering and tracking information, creating/requesting/coordinating meetings and preparing and circulating agendas in advance of meetings. Performing administrative duties: calendar hearings, deadlines and internal meetings, organize case files, manage logistics and plan travel for attorneys and witnesses, etc. Processes invoices and tracks costs.
Maintain records and files including correspondence, discovery production, pleadings, responds to/tracks inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree / B.A./B.S. degree.
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
- General knowledge and skills applicable to the Legal area
- PC experience, strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. / B.S. with course work in law or finance.
- Paralegal certificate
- Strong typing / editing / data entry skills.
- Prior experience in financial services/securities/insurance.
