Job Description
We are seeking a Product Data Specialist at a level I, II or III. The Product Data Specialist is responsible for Product Data Management, including development and maintenance of multiple databases used for estimating, order entry, purchasing, scheduling and manufacturing of standard and configured parts. This includes part set-up, bills of material and routers for standard items, as well as rules and tables for non-standard (configured) items. The individual will also participate in the design and release of new products and coordination of the ECO process. The level II Product Data Specialist will also participate in the design and release of new and revised products. The level III Product Data Specialist will also be responsible for the overall Product Data Management. As a level III, they will be directly involved in projects and will work with other engineering, estimating, IT, and database resources.
Product Data Specialist Functions:
•Manage multiple engineering change orders through project life cycle.
•Maintain multiple versions of Excel based product database used by estimating, sales and clients.
•Develop and maintain standard part database for ERP system, including bills of material and manufacturing routers.
•Develop and maintain rules and tables for the configuration of non-standard parts, including pricing, bills of material and manufacturing routers.
•Develop and maintain engineering policies and procedures as they relate to product introduction and revision
•Work collaboratively with other database resources, as well as cross functional teams from across the organization.
•Help ensure departmental goals are met and projects are completed on time, accurately, and within budget.
•Implement continuous improvements to support company-wide productivity, quality and delivery goals.
The level II Product Data Specialist will also:
•Helps manage the Product Data function for the Company including: identification of needs, prioritization of projects, development of plans and schedules, system testing and coordination with other departments.
•Develop and maintain estimating software database.
•Provide regular status updates regarding current database projects.
•Help develop strategies for future database development, implementation and integration.
•The level III Product Data Specialist will also:
•Help manage the Product Data function for the Company including: identification of needs, development of plans and schedules, prioritization of projects, system testing and coordination with other departments.
•Represent team in cross functional development projects. Provide direction to other database resources, in order to complete projects on time, accurately, and within budget.
•Proactively develop integration strategies to enable future data sharing among various system platforms.
Product Data Specialist Position Requirements:
•Undergraduate Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical discipline, or equivalent related experience
•Excellent mechanical aptitude
•Strong project management skills
•Good visualization and understanding of components and assemblies
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel
•Working knowledge of CAD
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for system testing and remedial work
•Ability to interact at all levels of the organization
The level II Product Data Specialist will also require:
•3 years of relevant experience
•Excellent use of ERP software, BOM structures, routings, scheduling requirements, inventory management
•Working knowledge of CAD to include solid modeling.
Preferences
•Knowledge of architectural aluminum components, assemblies and systems
