Job Summary
Provide quality CAD drafting support for routine to semi-complex projects utilizing Bentley Microstation V8i Select Series 3, as our primary CAD software, along with Bentley Descartes software for raster editing.
Key Accountabilities
Utilize company CAD software to create new electronic drawings or edit existing electronic drawing files that may include both vector (linear features) & raster (pixel features, i.e.; scanned legacy engineering drawings, aerial photos, etc.) data types, under the direction of Principal CAD Operator, Designer, or Engineer.
Adhere to company filing system, CAD standards and drafting techniques.
Must be available to assist with obtaining field measurements for construction projects, within the State of Michigan, as necessary.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
High school diploma
Minimum of 2 years CAD experience
Mechanical: Minimum of 2 years of mechanical piping experience including familiarity with welded, flanged and threaded process piping assembly and installation.
Electrical: Minimum of 1 year of electrical layout experience for electrical (AC & DC) power and control wiring (power distribution, schematic and ladder diagrams, etc)
Civil/Cartographic: Minimum of 2 years of Civil/Cartographic drafting experience including accurate layout of parcels of land and easements.
Other Qualifications
Preferred
Mechanical and/or Electrical CAD experience
Microstation software experience
AutoCAD experience
Other Requirements
General understanding of plan and section views.
General understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software programs.
Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
Must be able to interpret information from existing plans, field sketches and photographs.
Must be able to understand the use of reference files within CAD software.
Must be able to understand the use of raster images within CAD software.
Have good verbal and written communication skills.
General understanding of isometric and schematic drawings.
Electrical:
Overview of basic electrical drafting knowledge (schematic, ladder, etc)
General understanding of industrial electrical systems, including: Hazardous area fittings and installation Conduit routing, assembly and installation.
Civil/Cartographic:
General understanding of mechanical piping drafting knowledge welded, flanged and threaded process piping assembly and installation, etc)
Topographic features (Bench marks, spot elevations and contours).
Referencing aerial photography to CAD files (New and historic).
General understanding of plan and profile layout of engineering drawings.
General understanding of layout techniques for custom mapping projects (North arrow, scale, legend, colors, legible information, etc) Basic understanding of creating maps from ESRI ArcGIS System and databases.
