KEY DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INC. SUBSTANCE ABUSE THERAPIST Substance Abuse Therapist - applies the theories, principles and practices of recovery oriented system of care. The ROSC is based on a chronic system of care substance use treatment and recovery services that use recovery services to engage, treat, and provide recovery support services that assist individuals and their families sustain their recovery. Services range from outreach, prevention/education and integrated outpatient treatment - substance abuse and metal health. A professional in active recovery is preferred. DUTIES Essential Duties: ? Assess the clients need for services including the evaluation of the client's mental and physical health and substance abuse use/ abuse/addiction., and provide services at the stage of change that may best start the road to recovery. ? Coordinates access to health care and other local resources. ? Develops with the client an integrated treatment plan that includes peer recovery services, case management services and the utilizing community based support systems. ? Conducts counseling for individuals, groups, families and couples. ? Proficient in outreach, prevention and education. ? Conduct continuing care, relapse prevention, and discharge planning with the client and that involves significant others. ? Assure the accurate documentation of case records throughout the course of treatment or prevention programming. ? Apply placement, continued stay, and discharge criteria for each modality on the continuum of care. Reassess the treatment plan at regular intervals, and/or when indicated by changing circumstances. ? Inform the client of his/her confidentiality rights, program procedures that safeguard them and the exceptions imposed by statute. ? Demonstrate respect and nonjudgmental attitudes toward the client in all contacts with other professionals or agencies. ? Apply confidentiality-related legal restrictions appropriately. Knowledge of: Recovery Oriented Systems of Care Substance Abuse Prevention theories and activities. Substance abuse pathology and causes. Substance abuse outpatient treatment/ prevention methodology, facilitating individual, group and family treatment. Knowledge of accepted criteria for diagnosis, and the use of modalities on the continuum of care, in making treatment recommendations. Confidentiality-related lega1 restrictions. Substance abuse community based treatment agencies and services. Licenses and Certifications: Licensed by the State of Michigan as LMSW or LPC. Require possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license. Licensed by Michigan Board of Addiction Professionals- CAAC or CADC Physical Demands: Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone. Education: Possession of a Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology with experience in substance abuse counseling. Experience: Three to five year's substance abuse related experiences.
