The Torque Control Calibration Engineer is focused on automatic transmission and torque control calibration to enable overall vehicle performance including drivability, performance and other key attributes including meeting regulatory requirements. Key activities include validating and releasing engine torque control calibrations for automatic transmission applications, performing hands-on in-vehicle calibration verification work, supporting test trips to verify proper transmission and engine operation across operating conditions and other assigned powertrain development activities.
The Engineer will work in conjunction with competitive benchmarking, powertrain development, and vehicle engineers to finalize data-based calibration targets and develop reports as required to support calibration release gate reviews. The Engineer will work with in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools and mathematical analysis tools such as MS-Excel macros and MATLAB to meet objectives, as well as perform other assignments as directed by management. He/she is responsible for maintaining and communicating calibration plans and issue-lists and escalating concerns when appropriate. Typically, the position will travel 4-6 weeks to perform cold, hot and altitude validation.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or related engineering field from an accredited university
•Minimum three years of related automotive work experience
•Must have a valid US driver’s license with an excellent driving record
•MS Office Proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
•Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data
•Experience developing accelerator pedal torque map, torque filtering, shift pattern, and /or shift quality calibrations for production programs
•Calibration dataset management experience
•Automotive engineering experience
•Calibration experience
