Navistar Defense located in Madison Heights, MI is a subsidiary of Navistar International Corporation, is a leading defense contractor for the US Government and its allies. We are looking for an exceptionally talented and results-oriented individual to join us and deliver on our promises to our customers, employees and shareholders.
Technical Writer/Editor – Contractor 9-12 months plus
Responsible to research and keep abreast of technical product changes affecting military products; write, edit, and publish Technical Manual Work Packages, Modification Work Orders, Product Information letters and other publications; and work with teammates and supervisors to ensure information is accurate and timely.
•Experience writing Military Standard publications, with emphasis on utilizing Mil-Std-40051-2B a plus
•Strong automotive mechanical and electrical background preferred
•Write, edit, and publish Technical Manual Work Packages, Modification Work Orders, Product Information letters and other publications
•Secure appropriate approvals to ensure the accuracy of information before publication
•Research, edit, and update various MIL-STD service literature
•Meet with Program Management, Product Development, Program Design Teams, and Engineering to gain knowledge and directional input concerning publication content
•Ensure all guidelines and requirements of the Product Information group are followed
•Ensure service literature meets with government formatting standards
•Manage to budgets, deadlines and established multi-step timelines
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of technical writing/editing experience, or a minimum of 5 years technical writing/editing experience
