Position Summary:
•EPIC Senior Software Engineer's main responsibility will be to support the integration of new signal flows and algorithms onto Harman's latest embedded automotive amplifiers. These amplifiers will be used in groundbreaking audio concept vehicles that leverage Harman's brand and technology leadership. EPIC (Early Pursuits and Innovative Concepts) creates new user experiences to help Harman continue shaping the future of in-vehicle audio.
Job Responsibilities:
•Work with a global team to support design, integration, and tuning of audio systems for the automotive environment.
•Create/configure C & C++ applications for use on prototype amplifier hardware.
•Create/configure device drivers for adapting software to prototype amplifier hardware.
•Support software integration with the audio system (which could also include PC/Android software, Arduino, and various light/motor controllers).
•Create custom UI/UX experiences for demonstrating new technologies
•Investigate new UI/UX/audio related technologies and best practices.
•Presenting new concepts to customers, media, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience; alternatively, Master's Degree in above mentioned fields and at least 1-year experience in research and development
•In addition, having shown high involvement in research, technology development, and cutting edge innovation all throughout the academic curriculum via TAs, RAs, and internships
•Experience working in the technology industry or automotive industry
•Experience with the use of rapid prototyping tools for software and hardware, electronics, and mechanical design for consumer electronics and future device platforms
•In-depth experience with non-traditional input and output technologies, such as speech, gesture, touch, haptics, etc.
•Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business
•Proficiency in C programming
Preferred Qualifications
•Science Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
•5+ years of experience in a SW development related field ; 7+ years of experience is strongly preferred.
•Specific experience required in 3 or more of the following fields: software development, embedded software, acoustic engineering, digital signal processing, psychoacoustics, and recording arts.
•Knowledge of Unity, Qt, JUCE, C#, C++, VST, Arduino, or other SW development and programming.
•Knowledge of 2D or 3D visual design software (Adobe Suite, CAD software, etc.) is preferred.
•Knowledge of acoustic theory, sound reproduction, and sound system tuning are strongly preferred.
•Working knowledge of vehicle communication
•Working knowledge of digital signal processing technology
