The Audit Environment, Health & Safety Manager role is responsible for leading audits for the application of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management systems at FCA NAFTA. This position has a primary focus on ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 50001. This is accomplished through participation in the planning and execution of audits within the EHS area of the company, and by providing consulting services to operations management. This position includes responsibility to guide and mentor FCA’s Corporate Leadership Development (CLD) Program participants (FCA’s premier Leadership Development Program). Travel will be required to various FCA NAFTA sites.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Completing audits
•Developing the audit scope and approach through a “Risk Assessment” process to address risks to the organization for ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 50001 management systems and certifications
•Managing the completion of audit fieldwork, this typically includes assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, and determining compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures (as well as assessing the adequacy of existing procedures)
•Documenting and communicating findings to local and senior management
•Working closely with management to assist with the development of corrective actions for issues identified
•Identifying causes or contributing factors relating to process variance
•Identifying and recommending methods to strengthen internal controls, improve operations and, in conjunction with operation personnel, determining the best potential solutions
•Support, consult and participate in regional or company level EHS projects
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental or Safety Management or equivalent field
•Minimum of 5 years environmental and ISO-based management systems experience
•Supervisory experience
•Strong project management, self-direction and motivation, written/oral communication, organizational, and leadership skills are required
•Ability and enthusiasm for conducting subject matter training and leading employees
•Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Professional, PowerPoint, spreadsheets
Preferred Qualifications:
•Advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental or Safety Management or equivalent field
•Strong relationship building skills
•Experience in the automotive industry or manufacturing
•Knowledge of applicable Environment, Occupational Safety and Health, and Energy regulations
•Ability to understand and document complex business processes
•Identify risks and offer value added solutions
•Strong computing skills
•Foreign language skills considered a plus
•Trained as a Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001 and 5001
