Reporting to the CAD Supervisor, the CAD Designer will be responsible for preparing 3d models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for a wide variety of standard Products, Form tools, Breakdown Tools, Check fixtures and Patterns for Our Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy-duty Truck and Rail / Specialty Business units. They will also control revisions of Electronic files within the PLM Document Control System. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares dimensionally accurate detailed component; product; tool, pattern drawings.
- Solid modeling, surface design and assembly of products and tooling in the 3d environment.
- Sheet metal design and flat pattern creation
- Works closely with engineering to help implement customer drawings standards, and specifications.
- Prints parts for experimental tooling and components on small desktop 3d printer.
- Programs tool path for router with use of Solidworks CAM
- Responsible for New or Updates to document data associated with electronic product, tooling and patterns into the PLM Database for Revision Control.
- Has contact with external Customers for electronic file conversions and data transfers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
