ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. • Supervises Special Education Program; Helps identify students who will participate in the program through coordination and evaluation of testing; Completes intake process for referrals and identified applicants; Monitors success of program through surveying parents and other techniques;
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local requirements regarding the education of students with disabilities;
• Completes and submits all reports required by local, state and federal authorities;
• Manages Special Education Support Staff;
• Contracts with qualified personnel to provide Related Services to students with disabilities;
• Provides training to regular and special education staff regarding the provision of special education services;
• Demonstrates knowledge of innovative and researched-based methodologies used to instruct students with disabilities in virtual environment;
• Supports and engages learners’ families by responding to their concerns in a timely manner, through regular communication; Connects them to statewide/community resources; Maintains regular office hours and schedules appointments as needed to assist students and parents with additional concerns/questions;
• Participates as District Representative on Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Team Meetings;
• Attends conferences/workshops/trainings regarding students with disabilities;
• Works with Academic Administrators to implement Response to Intervention program;
• Acts as school-wide 504 Coordinator providing support and training to Academic Administrators and Administrative Designees on 504 procedures/processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 12-15 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
