The Powertrain Applications Manager is responsible for leading a group of engineers to develop and release the powertrain calibration for state of the art engine platforms. The Applications Manager ensures that the work is managed through direct reports to achieve all specified FCA group customer fuel economy, drivability and tailpipe emission requirements. They will plan resources, timelines and monitor the work of a group of 6 – 12 engineers performing calibration drivability, fuel economy and emissions for all applications of a specific powertrain configuration. They will ensure that the products meet specified functional objectives at checkpoints of the development cycle. In addition, the position also requires reporting progress to goals, issues and risks to senior level management in concert with the Chief Engineer. Also, it must ensure consistent and high level of quality work products for all packages through process oriented approach to in-vehicle and dynamometer calibration development. They will provide employee performance feedback at yearly reviews. Work typically includes 20% of travel throughout the year for system validation. The job locations will be Chelsea, MI.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University
•Minimum 10 years accumulated experience in engine systems, calibration, powertrain systems or related engineering positions for gasoline and CNG applications
•Minimum 2 years of prior experience leading a group of engineers to complete complex technical tasks
•Experience with Matlab / Simulink
•Hardware In the Loop Development/Verification
•Database Management of Production Calibrations
•Thorough understanding of Engine System Fundamentals
•Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
•Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University
•Experience in On Board Diagnostics
•Experience managing suppliers
