About this Opportunity
As an Education Sales Consultant, you'll be responsible for sales within your assigned areas and markets. You will collaborate with Herman Miller and Dealer Sales Teams on strategies to drive success within the Education segment (public and private four-year colleges and community colleges).

* Attend major industry events as required (SCUP, Educause, etc.).
* Build strategic relationships with key A D firms and players in those firms to drive Education sales.
* Develop and maintain a business plan for the continued growth of market share and territory volume.
* Develop, grow, and maintain dealer sales in your assigned geographic area through business development, account management, and dealer sales-focused activities.
* Identify and develop eProcurement Education opportunities.
* Identify and pursue new Education opportunities, driving sales through both direct and indirect methods via Herman Miller and Dealer Sales staff.
* Make the initial key contact with target schools to develop and establish productive and collaborative relationships with customer decision-makers, influencing them by using Insight Selling skills.
* Leverage and work collaboratively with other Herman Miller, Geiger, and Nemschoff selling resources.
* Manage account information appropriately to provide accurate reporting of selling activity and forecast expected sales volume.
* Manage within the assigned expense budget.
* Participate in client visits as needed to enhance the customer experience.
* Partner with the Sales Team and dealers to appropriately deploy selling resources and drive Herman Miller Education sales.
* Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
* Take responsibility for working with dealers to improve their overall effectiveness in Education segment selling.
* Serve as a resource for Sales professionals in regard to proposals, negotiations, closing the sale, and market plan development selling activities.
* Serve as a knowledge and subject matter expert for Education, as well as a strategist for campus planning.
* Serve as the primary Herman Miller Education link to the Regional Sales Team and A D Leads in your geographic area.
* Share insights and position Herman Miller with academic leadership in your assigned geographic area.
* Train Herman Miller and dealer teams on Education resources and strategies.

* A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Experience within the higher education market is a plus.
* Five to eight years of successful selling experience.
* Knowledge of Herman Miller products, services, and culture, as well as knowledge of competitive products.
* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate.
* The ability to be an assertive self-starter with the self-confidence and ability to represent Herman Miller in a professional manner in order to gain a high level of confidence from a diverse group of customers.
* Professional attributes and the initiative to effectively manage your activities to deliver results and work with and through others to successfully win business.
* A demonstrated proficiency in creating and delivering impactful presentations to a variety of audiences.

* A demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships with customers and business partners, particularly at senior decision-making levels across an organization.
