General Position Description
With direction from the VP of Operations, the Lean Champion initiates Continuous Improvement projects and leads Kaizen activities at the Walker, Reed City and Dallas locations. The Lean Champion is a key leader of Tubelite's Lean journey and transformation. The Lean Champion trains, coaches and mentors employees in the application of Lean, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve business processes and achieve Continuous Improvement objectives.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
•Coaches and develops Continuous Improvement leaders at all levels of the organization
•Organizes and facilitates Kaizen events and CI projects using multidisciplinary teams
•Teaches Lean and Six Sigma tools to all levels of the organization, including Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Standardized Work and Visual Management
•Helps eliminate waste and reduce variation by streamlining key value streams and business processes
•Manages and communicates progress and results of all Lean/CI projects. Celebrates Lean/CI successes.
•Performs on-going audits to ensure best practice implementation and identify opportunities for improvement.
•Helps champion an organizational culture that understands and embraces Lean Six Sigma
Position Requirements
•Bachelors Degree
•Minimum 5-10 years experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement principles and methods
•Experience managing the Lean functions at multiple sites
•Expert understanding of Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies, including Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Standardized Work and Visual Management
•Ability to develop strong working relationships with employees at all levels in the organization and to coach, mentor and lead others
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to facilitate projects and meetings, and provide effective training
•Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others without formal authority
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•Excellent time management and procedural discipline skills
•Proficient with Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
