SUMMARY:
Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking a 2nd Shift Welding Technician for a manufacturing company in Grand Rapids, MI. This person will be responsible for developing and altering programs and processes on various welding systems according to company quality policies. The ideal candidate will have experience with welding, troubleshooting machinery used in weld applications and be able to modify weld systems for Fanuc systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preventative maintenance and repairs to various types of equipment (weld cells, auxiliary equipment, and weld fixtures.
- Use machine/press controls to operate equipment, maintain and follow parameters on welding procedure specification, with assistance.
- Complete equipment changeovers per instructions (weld fixtures, presses, leak test tools, etc.)
- Any other assigned duties, such as manual welding, assisting with design, build, install and startup of equipment
- Develop and update Fanuc robotics programs and resistance/laser weld programs
- Modify torch angles, approach to the weld, and other variables for best possible performance within welding procedure specifications
- Troubleshoot equipment and tooling throughout welding and assembly areas.
- Verify machine errors, ensure that error proofing systems are functioning, use 8D and A3 problem solving to assist in proofing process.
- Provide support to coworkers throughout welding and assembly, assist in training Mig/Tig welders and help achieve departmental goals.
- Participate in lean initiatives
- Use quality tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, torque tests etc.)
- Analyze gage and Coordinate Measuring Machine date to update/adjust weld fixtures that meet requirements.
- Ensure that weld equipment and process meet OSHA, MIOSHA and company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or GED required
- Experience operating manufacturing machinery required
- Credits towards an Associate’s degree in Tooling and Manufacturing (or a related field) required
- Ability to modify welding programs for Fanuc systems
- Experience performing and recording preventative maintenance on all types of equipment (weld cells, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment) required
- Ability to trouble shoot automated machinery for weld applications required
- Experience welding required
- Ability to pass written and practical tests to obtain company forklift/hi-lo and crane license preferred
