Systems Technology Group (STG) has immediate opening for Powertrain Project Manager for our direct automotive client in Troy, MI. The duration is long-term (1+ year).
General Purpose:
Seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager to join our engine management systems team. This individual will be responsible for managing software development projects and related tasks, including requirements gathering, tracking software development, coordinating documentation for SW release, and managing tasks related to the software development process. This candidate will effectively document, communicate, and report on defined deliverables, resource requirements and work plans. The Project Manager will take a very active role in driving all assigned projects toward completion. An ideal candidate will have prior experience and technical knowledge in powertrain software development. This candidate must have strong communication skills and be comfortable working with customers, management and technical staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead planning and implementation of engine management software projects (Initiation through Closure)
- Coordinate activities and serve as the main point of contact between the Algorithm Development Team, Software Team, System Integration Team, and Calibration Team
- Facilitate definition of project scope, goals, deliverables, timing, and project meetings – internal and external
- Develop, maintain and control engine management software project schedules
- Effectively prepare for, address, and escalate project issues, risks and/or changes that may arise
- Ensure projects meet established goals, customer requirements and objectives, and company standards
- Ensure conformance to company quality standards
- Coordinate Project evaluations and assessments of results for internal development projects
- Ability to gain a deep understanding of written and verbal business requirements provided by other business analysts or customers
- Quality Assurance: Actively manage and coordinate the teams involved in software verification and have final sign-off authority
- Document, socialize, and triage issues, defects, and enhancement requests from internal and external customers
- Manage traceability matrices, change requests, test plans and test cases, user guides, capability discovery and delivery roadmaps
- Maintain customer requirements database for development projects
Required Skills/Experience:
- 3 - 5 years of project-related experience
- Ideal candidate possesses a solid understanding of project management methodologies, processes and best practices; strong interpersonal skills, and some familiarity to the software development process
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle processes required
- Ability to successfully lead a team
- Must be flexible and able to effectively manage and control changing priorities and project risks
- Competent with MS Office products, with advanced skills in Project
Required Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, Engineering, or related field
- PMP Certification
