Viking is seeking to hire an Area Manager to direct and coordinate phases of the Caledonia production and manufacturing activities with the objective of meeting customer requirements. The Area Manager will focus on utilizing human resources and material resources effectively, as well as, observe our company mission, and operate according to published goals and objectives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors or superintendents. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews production orders and schedules to be aware of product data such as quantities, product specifications, and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan manufacturing operations.
- Works with production planners to plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Reviews operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing and maintenance activities to ensure availability of components, proper tooling and adequate staffing to ensure efficient production of products that meet quality standards and product specifications.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum manufacturing costs and prevent operational delays.
- Directs inspections machine and equipment inspections to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization and enforce safety standards.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Procures necessary manpower to satisfy customer requirements. Control and facilitate movement of human resources through increase, decrease or realigning the current staffing to meet production demands.
- Reviews department scrap reports and recommend and implement methods for continuous improvement.
- Compiles, stores, and analyzes production data.
- Leads, motivates, and supports supervisory and managers
- Drives operational improvements through labor, process, and machine efficiencies.
- Ensures that the methods used to manufacture product are safe to operators and personnel that frequent the area, and ensure the methods used are acceptable to state and federal codes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- 3 - 5 years of direct supervisory or management experience
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer and common software programs, including MS Word, Excel, and the ability to work with MRP schedules.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
- Familiar with reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
