Position Summary:
Responsible for Gordon Food Service and related entities federal, state, local and international tax compliance and other tax and business planning projects.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as project advocate in the tax planning process to promote and implement tax planning ideas and tax software. Administer the entities and structures that are a result of various tax and financial projects.
- Serve as the company lead for indirect tax audits conducted by state and local jurisdictions.
- Participate, prepare and/or review the various periodic sales/use tax returns, property tax filings and processing of the corresponding tax bills.
- Maintains and completes all items on the tax compliance due date tracker.
- Responds to, investigates and follow up on customer inquiries, internal tax inquiries, and various governmental audits.
- Assists with identifying both technical and process related improvements for the department and actively participates in the administration of the tax department with tax senior leadership.
- Collaborates with outside advisors including CPA’s, attorneys, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Five to seven years progressive experience in the tax department of an international accounting firm or in a large corporate tax department or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Administration (MSA), or Master of Science in Tax (MST) is preferred
- Certified Public Accountant is preferred
