Job Description
The EPMO Director is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight for Project Management methodologies, governance and information technology tools for projects managed within the Enterprise Project Management Organization.
The Director ensures all projects under the EPM organization are in compliance with the EPMO framework, standards and governance through audits, peer reviews, and project gate reviews. These projects involve large capital investments for reliability improvements or infrastructure modernization totaling over $500 million initially and up to $1 billion annually
This position provides expertise in managing critical projects through the Project Lifecycle process and functions as the subject matter expert (SME) on project management best practices and standards including reaponsibility for all project compliance to applicable standards and codes.
This position is directly responsible for the leadership, guidance and administration of other project management professionals responsible for project process and code compliance as well as the management of matrixed subject mater expert resources which will include contracting and procurement, construction management, project engineering, risk, quality and cost management
This position will also be responsible for project controls information system tool selection including the implementation of these systems to support project tracking, reporting and analysis.
This position will eventually be responsible for oversight and inclusion of other PM organizations into EPM and the use of EPM tools and methodologies. This will include DCO, Facilities and potentially IT PM organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Oversee and conduct Project Gate Reviews for projects to provide an independent review and approval authority for all projects as well as provide process adherence and control checkpoints to standards. Lead and assess the performance and compliance of all projects (including DCO board approved projects) and project management professionals against the EPMO governance framework and determine project readiness for funding approval and advancement to execution phase.
•Provide leadership, accountability and technical expert responsible for establishing a robust project management standards framework and governance for life cycle management of all projects - from project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closeout. This position will be accountable for methodologies, system tools and controls governing over 300 projects totaling up to $1B annually.
•Establish Project Control Systems and tool framework to support successful execution of projects. Responsible and accountable for the project controls implementation strategy, selection of system applications to address current gaps and execution of proposed systems and tools.
Requirements
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree
•15+ years of construction or project management experience in a n architect/engineering firm, construction firm or industrial.

•Demonstrated significant experience and credibility managing large complex projects through stage gate and life cycle management process.
