Senior Embedded Software Engineer Fire Control | Ground Combat Vehicles Sterling Heights, MI $63.00 - $70.42/Hourly We are hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Fire Control / Ground Combat Vehicles to support embedded application software development for a new ground combat vehicle program. This 100% onsite role requires Fire Control experience and 7+ years of related engineering experience developing, integrating, and testing embedded software using technologies such as C++, C, Java, C#, Python, VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, Git, Bitbucket, BSPs, networking protocols, and pub/sub middleware. This role supports the complete software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, software architecture and design, code development, unit and functional testing, hardware/software integration, debugging, and vehicle software releases. The engineer will work across vehicle domains and technologies involving Fire Control, lethality, displays, power management, diagnostics, embedded training, software deployment, ground vehicle network architectures, DDS, CAN, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, TSN, NGVA, UKGVA, GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and FACE. Responsibilities: * Design, configure, test, and migrate to a software development environment used to produce requirements, design documentation, source code, and test artifacts. * Develop embedded software documentation and code across vehicle domains including Fire Control/lethality, board support, displays, power management, software deployment, embedded training, and diagnostics. * Perform software requirements analysis and translate system requirements into implementable software solutions. * Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved software design tools and standards. * Develop software designs that influence overall ground combat vehicle architecture. * Develop embedded software code in accordance with established engineering standards, processes, and procedures. * Create test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software. * Perform hardware/software integration and troubleshoot integration issues across embedded vehicle systems. * Debug software defects identified throughout development, integration, and testing phases. * Integrate software releases across multiple Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) into overall vehicle software releases. * Provide development status, technical progress, and issue updates to software project leads. * Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Project Management, Software Quality, and other engineering and business functions. * Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies including daily scrums, PI Planning events, retrospectives, and demonstrations. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract * Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. * 7+ years of related software engineering experience. * Fire Control experience is required. * Software development experience using C++, C, Java, C#, and/or Python. * Experience with source control and development tools including Git and Bitbucket. * Experience developing software in mixed operating system and embedded environments including VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and/or GVOS. * Experience with serial and network communication protocols including RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP. * Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe (Pub/Sub) middleware. * Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures. * Experience with NGVA (NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture) and UKGVA (UK Generic Vehicle Architecture) data models. * Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture design. * Experience with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and FACE architectures or standards. * Experience using Agile software development processes and tools. * Must be able to work 100% onsite and occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience supporting the defense industry or DoD ground combat vehicle programs. * Experience or familiarity with Type 1/Type 2 hypervisors. * Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes. * Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) concepts. * Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler. * Additional Data Distribution Service (DDS) experience. * Experience with UDP, TCP, and multicast networking. * Experience implementing continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
