Position Summary
This role requires an experienced Quality professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Site Quality Manager, this position will provide leadership and oversight of the site’s Quality Inspection and Metrology functions.
The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of quality inspection and engineering principles, with the ability to read and interpret customer blueprints and engineering drawings. The candidate will have advanced manufacturing knowledge, including GD&T, precision measurement techniques, inspection tools, principles, and procedures.
This leader will manage and supervise a team of 20+ Quality Inspectors across day and night shifts and ensure the site maintains the Quality Manual and associated documentation necessary to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and control of the Quality System.
The ideal candidate is a people-oriented and engaging professional who can work independently with minimal direction, demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, and collaborates effectively across organizations and functions. This individual will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about Quality.
Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day activities of the Quality Inspection staff, providing administrative leadership, training, and development across Final Inspection, Gage Control, Receiving Inspection, First Piece Inspection, Metallurgical Laboratory, GMM, and CMM Inspection teams.

Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to support the timely delivery of high-quality products.

Establish clear, objective, and measurable performance expectations for personnel and communicate desired performance levels.

Assign and delegate responsibilities while monitoring employee development and providing coaching and training to address behavioral or technical improvement opportunities.

Attend daily Tier 3 meetings and provide updates and follow-up on assigned actions.

Ensure effective management, communication, and escalation of customer quality issues to the Site Quality Manager and Executive Management, as appropriate.

Support daily Material Review Board (MRB) activities and dispositions, including customer concession submissions.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing measurement systems and inspection processes that improve efficiency, increase inspection capacity, and enhance overall quality performance.

Support new program launches and develop inspection plans to ensure compliance with customer specifications and requirements.

Manage Calibration and Metrology teams to ensure instruments, gauges, and measurement equipment are verified and validated according to established schedules.

Manage the Verification In-Process procedure, updating and improving the process as needed to increase shop-floor efficiency and establish an effective feedback loop that supports improved throughput.

Manage Inspection Stamp controls and ensure personnel are properly qualified and authorized to accept product.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, drawing, or schedule form.

Demonstrate strong proficiency in blueprint interpretation and GD&T.

Interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with Management and Engineering personnel to establish and maintain appropriate quality and reliability standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline.

Minimum of 6 years of relevant Quality, Manufacturing, Inspection, or Engineering experience.

Strong human leadership skills, empathy, and a demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate employees.

Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues in a high-pressure environment while effectively leading change.

Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to develop and implement inspection requirements necessary to meet customer and product specifications.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to train personnel in the use of basic, intermediate, and advanced quality tools.

Self-directed work ethic with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Strong working knowledge and experience with AS9100 quality systems.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and program start-up activities.

Proven experience understanding, managing, and executing First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.

ASQ certifications are preferred.
